Supervision for Mental Health & Allied Health Professionals

At HMC Launceston, we offer individual clinical supervision for social workers, counsellors, and other allied health professionals. Supervision here is a collaborative space for reflection, learning, and skill development. Our aim is to support you in enhancing your professional competence, maintaining ethical practice, and building confidence in your work.

We can provide supervision for:

  • University field placements (where relevant to your discipline)

  • Early career and new graduates

  • Professionals completing credentialing or accreditation programs (e.g., Accredited Mental Health Social Worker Credential)

  • Practitioners seeking ad hoc or ongoing supervision

Our supervisors bring experience across multiple disciplines in the mental health sector. While we are not all trained in the same profession, any of our supervisors can provide support if you feel our skills and experience align with your needs.

FAQs

  1. Do i need supervision?

Requirements vary by profession and credentialing body. For example, social workers who are not AASW mental health accredited are not required to have ongoing supervision - though it is considered best practice. Counsellors and other allied health professionals may have their own supervision requirements through professional associations. If you’re in private practice, seeking external supervision, completing a placement, or working towards a credential, we encourage you to reach out to discuss your needs.

  2. What can supervision cover?

    Topics may include:

    • Reflective practice and case discussion

    • Skills development and professional growth

    • Ethical issues and professional boundaries

    • Workplace challenges and self-care strategies

    • Competencies relevant to credentialing requirements

  3. Where are the sessions held?

Individual supervision sessions can be held at our practice in Prospect, Tasmania, or online.

  4. How much does it cost?

Session fees vary depending on the supervisor and are subject to GST. We can invoice you directly or invoice your employer. If your employer is paying, a service agreement will need to be completed before supervision commences.

  5. What if i need to cancel?

    Our usual cancellation policy applies.

    • 48+ hours’ notice: No fee

    • 24–48 hours’ notice: 50% fee (waived if the appointment is filled)

    • 0–24 hours’ notice: Full fee

If we can fill the appointment with another client, the cancellation fee will be waived.
