Adult ADHD &
Executive Functioning Support at HMC

At Healthy Mind Centre, we understand that difficulties with attention, organisation and executive functioning can make everyday tasks feel harder than they should.

You might know exactly what you need to do, but still find it difficult to get started, stay on track or follow through. You may find yourself trying different systems and strategies, only to find they don't last. For many people, the challenge isn't a lack of knowledge - it's turning intentions into actions. Practical support can help bridge that gap.

We also recognise that many people are waiting to access ADHD assessment. Where appropriate, practical support can help you begin working towards your goals sooner.

Whether you're waiting for an ADHD assessment, have already completed an assessment, or simply want support to improve your executive functioning, our Therapy Assistant services can support adults to develop practical strategies that can be used in everyday life. Therapy Assistants work under the ongoing supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, providing timely practical support while ensuring your care continues to be guided by a psychologist.

How can we help?

Your Therapy Assistant will work with you to develop practical strategies that are tailored to your goals, with ongoing supervision from a Clinical Psychologist.

Support is individualised and focuses on helping you overcome the everyday challenges that matter most to you.

Depending on your needs, sessions may include support with:

  • organisation

  • planning and prioritising

  • time management

  • establishing routines

  • task initiation

  • breaking large tasks into manageable steps

  • using effective systems

  • problem-solving everyday challenges

  • implementing strategies recommended by your psychologist

  • building confidence and independence.

Our goal is to help you develop practical systems and habits that make everyday life feel more manageable.

Practical support for everyday functioning

Not everyone experiencing ADHD or executive functioning difficulties needs ongoing psychological therapy.

Many people benefit from practical support to develop routines, implement strategies and build systems that make everyday life more manageable.

This service is designed for people who would benefit from targeted support with executive functioning, whether they're waiting for an ADHD assessment, have already completed an assessment, or are simply looking for practical strategies to support everyday life.

Is this the right support for me?

This support may be suitable if you:

  • are waiting for an ADHD assessment

  • have already received an ADHD diagnosis

  • experience executive functioning difficulties

  • would like support implementing practical strategies

  • would benefit from putting psychology or assessment recommendations into practice

  • are funded through the NDIS for Capacity Building supports.

If we think another Healthy Mind Centre service would better meet your needs, we'll discuss this with you and help guide you towards the most appropriate option.

Not sure whether an ADHD assessment is needed?

Some people seeking this service have already completed an ADHD assessment, while others are still exploring whether ADHD may be contributing to their difficulties.

Where appropriate, the supervising psychologist may recommend ADHD screening questionnaires to help determine whether a formal assessment would be beneficial.

If you've already completed an assessment, sessions can focus on implementing recommendations and developing practical strategies to support everyday functioning.

Who provides this support?

Support is delivered by our Therapy Assistants under the ongoing supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

This model helps people access practical support sooner, while keeping services affordable and ensuring care is guided by a psychologist throughout the process.

This service is currently available as a private service only.

Your initial appointment involves both the supervising psychologist and Therapy Assistant. If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan, you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate for the psychologist's component of the initial appointment.
