Social Worker Supervision at HMC

We offer individual supervision in line with the AASW Supervision Standards. Social Work supervision at HMC Launceston is a forum for reflection and learning, and it aims to enhance professional skills and competence. Our experienced supervisors offer education and support, relating to the mental health field, for social workers, social work practitioners, and new social work graduates including those who are working toward the Accredited Mental Health Social Worker Credential. We also can support social work students as part of a university field placement.

Tua

Tua’s approach to supervision is underpinned by strength-based, narrative and collaborative frameworks of practice.  Tua assumes that a supervisee is not an empty vessel devoid of life experiences, knowledge or wisdom.  He views his role as the facilitator of learning and reflection.  Regardless of what the practice issue is, Tua believes the solutions can be found in the supervisee’s own knowledge, experience and critical reflection.

FAQs

  1. Do i need supervision?

Social workers (who are not mental health accredited) are not required by AASW to have on going supervision. We believe it is best practice, but it is not a requirement that is able to be enforced by the AASW. If you’re in private practice, seeking external supervision or want to start pursuing the mental health accreditation and require to be supervised by a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker, please reach out!

  2. What can supervision cover?

The sessions can cover a range of issues, concerns, and competencies relevant to social workers and those attaining a Mental Health Accreditation.

  3. Where ARE THE SESSIONS HELD?

Individual supervision sessions can be held at our practice in Prospect, Tasmania, or online.

  4. How much does it cost?

Each 1-hour session costs $195-$210. Supervision costs are subject to GST. Sessions can be invoiced to the individual social worker or to an employer directly. Employers paying for supervision must complete a service agreement prior to the supervisee commencing.

  5. What if i NEED to cancel?

Supervisees are subject to HMC’s usual cancellation policy. To avoid cancellation fees, please provide 48 hours notice of cancellation or rescheduling. If we can fill the appointment with another client, the cancellation fee will be waived. If 24-48 hours notice is provided, 50% of the fee will be charged. If 0-24 hours notice is provided, the full fee will be charged.
