Confident Suicide Risk Assessments

  • Online link to be provided, Healthy Mind Centre Launceston Tasmania, 7250 Australia (map)

Assessing risk-related concerns is a fundamental responsibility for mental health clinicians in every session. However, introducing questions about suicide risk can often evoke anxiety in practitioners. This session is designed to build confidence and skills in this critical area.

The session will focus on suicide risk assessment, addressing common fears, outlining key areas to explore in risk assessments, and discussing strategies for introducing sensitive questions about suicide risk in a client-centred way in sessions. While this session will build skills in suicide risk assessment, it will not cover the development of a suicide safety plan in depth. Facilitated discussions and reflective exercises will provide supervisees with opportunities to deepen their understanding and refine their approach in a supportive learning environment.

Facilitated by Clinical Psychologist, Catherine Bishop.
